The KWS ranger who shot and killed an innocent young man in a club at Ongata Rongai was a mentally disoriented man as revealed by his colleagues.
The Ranger who was later identified as Mohamed Daud, first shot and killed Stanley Kuria, 24 in a club on Saturday, August 17 morning before sped off on his motorbike to his house a few kilometres away where he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
This was after the two had earlier had an alteration at the N Bar Night Club, where the ranger left and stormed back in the early morning hours with an Ak-47.
He then ordered everyone at the club to lie down and went on to target Kuria at his back, shooting him three times on the head, leaving him dead on the spot before fleeing to his home.
“He lived alone here and he has been having financial, work and family challenges. This is common among some rangers in this field,” said an official at the service.
His colleagues stated that, Mohamed was depressed and finding it hard to cope with the difficult moments he was facing. Their effort of trying to intervene and help bore no fruits as he would later on go ahead and commit the heinous acts.
