Following the recent changes in the ODM party leadership after the elevation of past leaders to the broad-based government, some of officials in the party still insist that a candidate to challenge President Ruto come 2027 will be field.

Speaking during a whistle -stop tour of Oyugis, Homabay, Kisii Governor Hon Simba Arati and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir revealed that ODM had not joined the Kenya Kwanza Government, rather donated talent to assist stabilize the economy.

“We have not joined the Kenya Kwanza regime: we have simply donated talent to assist the President stabilize the economy of this country. But we will continue to call out what is wrong and call out what is right without fear or favour.” Governor Nassir stated.

Governor Arati further emphasised that ODM party is not working to build a coalition with the president insisting a candidate will be on the ballot to challenge the sitting president.

“I am telling President Ruto that ODM will have a candidate on the ballot in 2027,” Arati stated.

The pair denied the reports that Ruto and Raila could be re-kindling their past political relations for the head of state re-election bid, after the recent broad based government formation. There is no political deal the party is working on ahead of the 2027 polls according to ODM.
