Rising winger David Nyangige has earned a Kenya Sevens call-up after being named in Shujaa’s squad for the HSBC SVNS 2 tournament in Nairobi. The Division Two season opens on February 14-15 at Nyayo National Stadium.
Head coach Kevin “Bling” Wambua included Nyangige after his strong performances for the Morans at last year’s Safari Sevens. Wambua also said the rookie stood out in recent training scrimmages.

Wambua said Nyangige showed quality during the team’s internal sessions. He added that the new winger can add value over the two-day event.
Shujaa went through a two-phase build-up. First, the squad held an early camp in Cape Town. Then, it completed a final camp at the M-Pesa Academy in Thika. Wambua said the last phase focused on cohesion and opponent analysis.
Shujaa keep core group as Nairobi pools take shape
Wambua retained much of last season’s core. Co-captains George Ooro and Samuel Asati made the final 12-man squad. Vincent Onyala, Kevin Wekesa and Nigel Amaitsa were also named.
Kenya will face the United States, Germany, Uruguay, Belgium and Canada in Nairobi. Kenya Rugby Union also published the match schedule for the event.
Lionesses add Oswago and Nilah after Spain camp
Meanwhile, Kenya Lionesses head coach Simon Odongo included Marvel Oswago and Charity Nilah in his 13-player squad for the same tournament. The two featured for the Kenya Cubs at last year’s Safari Sevens.
The Lionesses recently completed a one-week training camp in Alicante, Spain. Odongo said the camp targeted fitness, combinations and tactical systems. Kenya will play Spain, China, South Africa, Argentina and Brazil in Nairobi.
