Katasi frames goalkeeping as a balance of body and mind. \u201cGoalkeeping is 50 per cent physical and 50 per cent mental. One lapse in concentration can undo an entire match,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That approach helps explain his steady output. A disciplined training routine, built around structure and repetition, underpins the reliability that keeps him ahead of his rivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While he leads the chart, Katasi points to the collective. \u201cKeeping a clean sheet is never just about the goalkeeper. It\u2019s about the team defending together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also stressed his responsibility as the organiser at the back. \u201cBut as the last man, I have to organise everyone in front of me. If the defence is well-organised, the job becomes easier,\u201d he added. That communication has made him a central figure inside the Leopards squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Support has played its part, too. \u201cWhen the fans chant my name, it gives me energy. I don\u2019t want to let them down. I want to give them something to celebrate at the end of the season,\u201d Katasi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a goalkeeper, confidence is currency. Every save strengthens that bond with the stands, and every clean sheet reinforces belief across the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katasi knows the gap can close quickly. \u201cI respect every goalkeeper on that list \u2014 Job, Stephen, Allan. They are quality players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He sees competition as a benefit. \u201cCompetition is healthy. It makes me sharper, more focused and hungrier,\u201d he added. It is a professional view that treats rivals as both benchmarks and motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katasi was born in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, on July 24, 1999. He started goalkeeping at Limuru Youth Sports Association, featuring for the U10 and U15 sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2013, he joined Aspire Academy in Qatar. That same year, the St Anthony\u2019s High School, Kitale alumnus earned a call-up to Kenya\u2019s U20 team. He featured in AFCON qualifiers against Rwanda and in friendly matches against Senegal and Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Back home, he joined Nzoia Sugar FC and spent three seasons refining his game. A major milestone followed in the 2022\/2023 season, when he won the Golden Glove after registering 17 clean sheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katasi is not satisfied with early numbers. \u201cTen clean sheets is a good number, but it means nothing if I stop now. I want a number that nobody can argue with at the end of the season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For AFC Leopards, his form is a stabilising force. In a league where defensive solidity can shape a campaign as much as attacking flair, a reliable goalkeeper can be decisive.
