The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)<\/strong> has announced a month-long Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR)<\/strong> exercise targeting Ol-Kalou Constituency, running from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, October 20, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 and if you are in that constituency and you are not yet registered, this is not a courtesy announcement. This is your window, and windows close.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The IEBC gazetted this exercise in a special issue of the Kenya Gazette dated September 14, 2026<\/strong>, signed by Commission Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon<\/strong>, signalling that the commission is moving with unusual urgency on Ol-Kalou specifically. Unlike the standard Continuous Voter Registration process, which operates on weekday office hours, the ECVR will run every single day \u2014 Monday through Sunday \u2014 for the entire month. That deliberate seven-day schedule is not bureaucratic generosity; it is a structural acknowledgement that ordinary Kenyans, especially young workers and students, have historically been shut out of registration by inconvenient timelines. The commission is removing that excuse, and so the burden now falls squarely on eligible citizens to act.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

What the ECVR allows is broader than most people realise, and that breadth matters enormously. Any eligible Kenyan who has attained the age of 18 and holds a valid national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport can register as a voter for the first time. Beyond fresh registration, the exercise also permits existing voters to transfer their registration to a new electoral area \u2014 critical for the thousands of young Kenyans who have moved from their home constituencies to study or work but remain registered in villages they no longer inhabit. Voters can equally update or correct their registration details and verify their current status, all of which speaks to a register that, left unattended, accumulates errors that quietly disenfranchise people who believe they are already covered. Registration services will be available at County Assembly Ward level, the Ol-Kalou Constituency Office, designated registration points, Huduma Centres, institutions of higher learning within the specified electoral areas, and the Commission’s Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The IEBC has also gazetted the appointment of Njiraini Anthony Muhia<\/strong> as Registration Officer and Kisiero Maurine Chepkoim<\/strong> as Assistant Registration Officer for Ol-Kalou Constituency, which means the administrative machinery is already in place \u2014 there will be named, accountable officials at the helm of this process.
