Jub Jub Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping and Shooting of Uber Driver Over Girlfriend Suspicions

Jub Jub Behind Bars After Allegedly Holding Driver at Gunpoint Over Jealousy

Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye — the face of Uyajola 9/9, South Africa’s most-watched infidelity reality show — was arrested on Sunday, 14 June 2026, after allegedly kidnapping and shooting at an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, Gauteng. The man who built a career exposing cheating partners now stands accused of a violent jealousy-fuelled attack.

What Happened That Morning

At approximately 7:30am, an e-hailing driver dropped off a female passenger at a residential address in Edenvale, a town roughly 25 kilometres east of Johannesburg. That’s when, according to police, everything went wrong.

SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says Maarohanye confronted the driver and accused him of being romantically involved with his girlfriend. He then allegedly forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the confrontation, he reportedly discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.

The driver escaped unharmed. He drove straight to the nearest police station. Officers moved fast — Maarohanye was arrested shortly after.

The Charges Are Serious

Maarohanye, 45, faces three charges:

He is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The case remains under active investigation.

This Is Not His First Time in Court

In 2023, Maarohanye faced charges of rape, assault, and attempted murder — accusations brought forward by public figures including Amanda du Pont and Masechaba Khumalo. The National Prosecuting Authority withdrew those charges in July 2024, citing no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

The withdrawal sparked fierce public debate about accountability, survivor justice, and how South Africa’s legal system handles cases involving celebrities.

The Irony Nobody Is Ignoring

Jub Jub hosts Uyajola 9/9 — a show where he dramatically confronts suspected cheaters on behalf of suspicious partners. The format made him a household name. It also made him a symbol of a culture that treats jealousy as entertainment.

Now, that same jealousy is at the centre of a criminal case against him. The man with the cameras is now the story.

Maarohanye has not publicly commented on the arrest.
